Justice For Mathios (Downtown Division)

It’s time to end police violence and ensure that no one else ever dies in such a brutal way. Our goal is to protect every member of our community from these gruesome acts and fundamentally uphold the value of every human life.

Join us in solidarity on Wednesday, July 31st, at 5:00PM for a peaceful protest, following in the footsteps of our ancestors and leaders like Nelson Mandela. We connect our current struggle with the enduring legacy of those who have paved the way for justice and equity, to free all people of African descent from all forms gruesome violence resulting in tragic loss of life. Multiple gatherings will be held at local police stations to protest police brutality against Black bodies and seek justice for Mathios and his family.

On the day he was murdered Mathios was wearing a white t-shirt, with his hands up in surrender. For this protest, we ask that you wear white to pay tribute to his life and stand together in solidarity for justice. In his honor, the family asks that we wear white to symbolize not only his murder but also his surrender. We look forward to seeing you there and standing together in solidarity.
